A southern California community is still reeling from a Christmas Eve standoff and fire that left a beloved Los Angeles County firefighter dead.
Craig Zimmerman's body was found inside the garage after the house fire was extinguished, Fox 11 reported.
Hermosa Beach police responded to the residence Sunday for a domestic incident. A woman and others in the house left while the man kept officers at bay for six hours.
About 4:30 p.m., smoke and flames were observed coming from the home.
Neighbors said they often saw Zimmerman playing with his children and a dog, who was rescued by crews and returned to the family.
No one else was hurt.
